Here is a nice site to learn what your "Check Engine" trouble codes are.

http://www.wjjeeps.com/faultcodes.htm

I found this on the Rubicon Owners Forum. Even though it says for a WJ, most of the codes should work for a TJ.

Too bad the on-off-on-off-on thing doesn't work with my put around town car. I have had Joe's code reader for weeks :( I just keep getting trouble codes. It'll be fixed for like a week and then pop another code. Now it is the forward o2 sensor (again  )

Trouble codes? What are those?
Misses? it's Ignition/ Lights don't work? it's electrical/ Doesn't run? it's out of Gas/ Runs hot? Check the antifreeze.
89 YJs don't have trouble codes just troubles.

Is it safe to drive the jeep with engine light on? i don't think it's a gas cap problem, I filled up the day of the run, and still have a 1/2 tank. But I'will double check it. I was wanting to play Saturday, I quess the safe bet would to find out what the code is from the engine light...Drats

Thank you for all the helpfull advise. Sure hope this not a major problem. Saturn said i have 30 days, but I didn't get that in writing.

Thanks again,

Marla

No it's not a Saturn.

It really depends on what the problem is. If the engine is running smoothly and not stuttering though then you should be alright. If the engine is running rough and/or stuttering then I'd say no.
