Here is the original e-mail sent out by then Trail Boss Maxine Lantz annoucing the adoption of the cabin. Originally we used a monthly Official Club Run to do the once a year repairs but starting this year we will be making the repair party a part of the Nevada Backroaders July Weekend in White Pine.
WE GOT IT!!!!!
This afternoon, Barbara Walker of the USFS, Mac McCarty & I, Maxine of the Board met to work out the details for adoption of the Forest Service Cabin on Mt. Moriah, aka Dog Springs Admin Cabin. This is the cabin we requested adopting last year. Due to personnel and policy changes in the local office, acceptance took a bit longer than originally thought. But, through the efforts of Barbara Walker, the Recreational Forester, we will partner with the Forest Service to preserve and adopt the cabin.
The Forest Service will supplies the generator, paint, lumber, paint brushes and other materials as needed. They will have an archeologist and ranger to assist us.
We supply the labor and use our own tools - i.e. hammers, saws, etc. Mac (775-289-6798) will serve as the “TOOL GUY.†If you are bringing your own tools - great. If you think you will need a special tool, contact Mac (
mlm@idsely.com) any way you want and we will try to make sure it is there for you to use.
Wes has generously cancelled his September run in Jefferson for our preservation day at the cabin.
