1941/42 Zenith Wave Magnet model 6-G-501M

I'm selling this for my Aunt, it was my Uncle's before he passed. My wife's Uncle is a big old radio nut and gave me some info on it. It's probably a 1941-42 model year, and except for the wear on the outside it is in very good shape and complete, including the tubes. The power cable has some rot and would need replacement before using. Also runs on a 6 volt battery IIRC. Never turned it on due to the power cable being scary looking, but if anyone is into this type of thing or knows someone?

Thought I'd try selling it locally so I wouldn't have to ship it, I'm afraid of what the PO would do to it.

$70

Gary:

There's a big community of radio heads out there who crave the old Trans Oceanics. One fellow even spent 4 months restoring one for David Letterman (no accounting for taste, eh?) as a gift and got his pitcher in da paper up in Connecticut.

Put that sucker on eBay under ELECTRONICS and it may just fly away.

I can put a new zip cord on it for you, see if she works on 110 volt power.

Ebay is a last resort, I was told of the horrors of shipping anything with glass tubes and from my experience I can see why.

I have no doubt it likely works, I just don't want to mess with it so it's considered original. The new owner can restore it or take it out target practicing for all I care. It was given to my uncle later on so it's not like an heirloom or anything sentimental.
