Well, it's official. I bought Rick and Patti's Rubicon! Which now means I have a Suzuki Sidekick for sale.

1997 Suzuki Sidekick JX Sport, 4 door
128,000 miles
1.8 liter, 4-cylinder engine
automatic transmission
3 inch suspension lift
28" tires
full-time Lock-Right rear locking differential
full underside skid plating
trailer hitch
cobra CB, with a magnetic car-top antenna (I think the CB handset needs replacing)
I just replaced the serpentine belt, timing chain, timing chain hydraulic tensioner, brakes, and rear shocks

Fair disclosure:
There's a rattling noise in the engine that just started appearing this summer, most noticeable when the car is just about to shift, especially when letting off the gas at that point. I thought replacing the tensioner would fix it, but it hasn't.

The AC works, but doesn't do much if you're traveling at slow speeds. Plus, when stopped at a stoplight with the AC on, the car sometimes shudders and stalls. I simply get into a habit of punching the AC off when I get to a stoplight.

In hot weather, she need to have high octane gas to prevent serious engine knocking.

On the highway, she doesn't accelerate quickly, especially with the AC on. And, she doesn't like going up hills fast - the slow lane is preferable.

She's great on rough roads, especially climbing steep hills. I have no complains for her as a back-road vehicle.
Asking $4000.

If you want more information, I'm easiest to get at dawn.nelson@csn.edu
Thanks!
Dawn

Wish I could say yes. But, she went to Carmax.

Maybe someone will find her there, take her home, love her and squeeze her and call her George. Or, she'll end up in an auction, and will eventually be trundling along rice paddies in China or something. Oh well.
