Well, after a very loud crash in my garage, I come to find out that my hard top has fallen off the stand, and has shattered the rear window (again) and this time has cracked the fiberglass rather severely between the front latches. :(

This being the case, I wonder if anyone out there happens to be willing to part with (i.e. sell) theirs? Or, if 4 wheel parts or ted weins or someone might be having a "take-pity-on-the-guy-that-had-to-sweep-up-all-the-little-glass-fragments" sale? :?

Thanks in advance, I looked on E-Bay, but everyone wants me to come pick it up, and they all live somewhere with 4 seasons.

Oh well,

Travis

UPDATE!!! After careful consideration, I decided it was a good idea if I called my Insurance Company. They said it was under my Comprehensive section of my auto policy instead of my homeowners policy (like I care.... Is it covered?).

It turns out I'm covered! So... an adjuster will come by to look sometime next week, then I guess they will order the new top from Jeep, and I will wait 4 to 6 weeks to get the new one. :)

All that being said, JJ, if you are interested in the old one (assuming they say it's better to replace it than fix it) the new rear glass is $543.00 (I've replaced it before) and the cracked fiberglass might look worse than it really is.

New top - $2100.00
E Bay top - $1000.00 (more or less) But you have to go get it in New Jersey, or Florida, or Illinois :?
Insurance Deductible - $500.00 :D

As my wife said "that's why we pay them so much isn't it?"

I'll keep the crowd updated as info comes in.

Thanks,

Travis

i am actually looking for a black hard top for my Jeep, too. but mostly for long haul drives and winter use. and not one of those two-piece jobs.

I'll keep my current setup for summer.

A hard top is one of those things that you take off your Jeep and never seem to put back on once you've experience life without it. It tends to sit in the corner of your garage and collect dust, taking up space, or have boxes of stuff stacked on top of it. It seems to have this special power over it's owner, not allowing him/her to part with it for someday it might be needed again...

Since I've had my soft top on, I only put my hard top on to move it when I moved to my house. Since then, its been sitting in my garage. Good thing I have space for it. I keep thinking I should sell it, but it's one of those things you say to yourself, "I may need that someday". If I keep it, I won't ever have to wish I didn't get rid of it. :P

ha!

Bestop now makes a Wraparound windjammer for the TJ that seals up the corners their original windjammer thing left open...

I'll buy that thing and use it for winter. cheaper than either a new soft top or a hardtop for sure.
