I've been notified by BLM about some work to be done in the South McCollough Mountains and the Wee Thump Wilderness. There are 10 old mine adits/shafts that BLM and the Nevada Department Of Minerals want to fence off for safety reasons. 6 of these are inside the Piute Eldorado ACEC and 4 are in the Wee Thump Wilderness. The fenceing will be put up to keep people from going into the mines and until BLM and NDOM can determine if the mines should be backfilled or collapsed. This should not effect travel on any of the approved trails that run through the area. This work should be finished by Spring 2007.

Sorry about that. BLM has not asked for volunteers at this time, but if they do I'll let everyone know. Can I blame it on being a seasoned citizen now?

If you go to Geno's camp out at the end of the month, you'll be a stones throw away :D

When I get the time (yeah right) I want to pre run a trail I did a few years back down there that takes you in the back way to the Crescent Mining area. You drive through part of the Wilderness area in doing so.

I accidentally found this road while on my maiden voyage in my Scout. Saw lots of neat mining claims too. I just hope I can accidentally find it again
