BLUERIBBON COALITION LAND USE UPDATE!

Nevada BLM Releases Preliminary EA for Silver State Off-Highway Vehicle Trail

The Bureau of Land Management, Egan Field Office has published their preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Silver State Off-Highway Vehicle Trail within White Pine County for public review and comment.

This EA has been prepared in accordance with the White Pine County Conservation, Recreation and Development Act of 2006. The Act states that the selected route of the Trail must not result in significant negative impacts to wildlife, natural or cultural resources, or traditional uses. The Act further states that the Trail designation must be an effort to extend the Silver State Off-Highway Vehicle Trail designated under section 401 (b) of the Lincoln County Conservation, Recreation, and Development Act of 2004.
Additionally, the Trail will be limited to one route that generally runs in a north south direction and may include one potential spur running west.

The EA is available on the Ely District Website at http://www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/fo/ely_field_office.html or hard copies are available upon request at the Ely District Office (775) 289-1800.

Comments regarding the preliminary EA will be accepted during the 30-day formal public comment period, which began October 25, 2010, and ends at 5:00 pm, Monday, November 29, 2010.
