I received a letter from the Las Vegas office of the BLM notifing me that they have issued a permit to the Nevada Department of Wildlife to collect Desert Big Horn Sheep in the North & South McCollough Wilderness areas and the Muddy Mountain Wilderness area to be re-introduced into the Delemar Mountains. BLM is requireing that NDOW keep all base camps and ground use motor vehicles outside the wilderness boundrys. They are approved to use one helicopter containing 5 people and a net gun to collect the sheep. Also NDOW must land the helio on allready disturbed areas inside the wilderness to collect the netted sheep, no new landing spots can be created. Sounds like NDOW is going to have a very hard time rounding up the bighorns. |
