There's a new(er) organization forming to help fight for our rights for off road trail use. Similar to what NUFWDA was, except this coalition is bringing 4x4, ATV and motorcycles together as a whole group. Anyone interested can contact Charlie Cox @ nohvco@hotmail.com or by snail mail: NOHVCO 12 W. Mesquite Blvd. Suite 111 Mesquite, NV. 89027 970-379-0362 cell / best 702-345-3672 Work |

I think this is a good idea, and will help all OHV users in the state have a centralized voice. This is the wave of the future. If you need any help from United, let me know. Other then we do specialize in 4X4 only. Todd |

Why ally with the ATV crowd? 90% of the time I feel like runing over someone on the trails it's an atv, but it's hard to run them over when they are so far off trail. |

On the trails we may not like them, and they can be jerks on the trails, but to stay ahead in this game, we need these coalitions. Part of this includes training for what is right out on the trails. Todd Navy-Jeepster |

For every bad ATV'r I have come across, I can easily match him with an equally bad 4X4 user. |

It's also not just about ATV's and 4X4's, as they are trying to rally the folks who ride dirt bikes and the folks that run dune buggies, etc. The only difference between US and THEM (at least to any of my knowledge) is we have to be registered and licensed to use all the trails we love. I do know that some OHV users are trying to create a "registration" system for ATV's, bikes, etc to help create funds for policing and trail betterment as well as other various programs. The problem is, the tree huggers, turtle people and beetle lovers got a hold of it and ran with it much faster than they could. So now a good, fair idea might create a system that not only takes away trails and dunes for THEM, but it helps the Greenies gather strength to create even more preserves and wilderness's to shut US out. There's even groups against the use of mountain bikes in these areas. The Greenie's won't be happy till we are all driving Prius's and hiking to anything every where. Though I'd be happy to drop a handful of them off in a true, road less mountain wilderness and see just how many make it out. |

BTW, my Father and I got letters from the NDOW (NV Dept. of Wildlife) about new areas in Southern White Pine and North Lincoln County that were recently signed into law by President Bush as Wilderness Areas (wasn't he supposed to be against that stuff?). We have since contacted the BLM and NDF for more detailed color maps for these areas. The Ely BLM rep claims they were truly road less, mountain top areas, and I can trust them more than the Vegas Branch any day, but I'm wanting to make sure. Besides, Wilderness Boundaries have a way of suddenly expanding overnight, as with Arrow Canyon. I still can't figure out why since it's illegal for the public to make new roads, why we need another law saying we can't make new roads |
