Helped create such routes as the Arrowhead Trail and eventually most of I-80 through Nevada. Through Nevada it follows some of the Pony Express Trail before breaking off. It follows parts of US50 (Loneliest Road in America) but still cuts off to historical places out of the way. In fact, part of the road to Belmont Mine/Mill outside Ely, NV is on the old highway. It's more of a SUV trail really, nothing too hard core as it's asphalt and graded roads. Just one of those things that you can brag about having done I guess.
Kind of like going from Las Vegas to Idaho on only dirt roads
