Nice pics, Stan. I was gonna go on that run, but went hiking up to Mary Jane Falls with a small group instead. When we got back to our vehicles you know who was there with his family? Craig (N2Deep)!!! I thought I might run into him some time during the day, but wasn't too sure. Sure enough I did. I thought that was pretty cool. 8)

how is it hiking up in the mountains this time of year?
I've never been hiking up in an elevation like the spring mountains offer.

I made a promise to myself that I'd hit Mummy, Griffith or Charleston before summer's end and I intend on doing it (after I get back into shape).

:-)

It wasn't too bad temp wise. I wasn't use to the altitude so I felt like I was short of breath a lot. Mary Jane Falls goes from approx. 7,800 to 8,800 ft in elevation. The air gets pretty thin at those altitudes especially if you're not use to it. The air was cool. I think the high for the mountain was 86 degrees. I don't know where the location of the temp is actually taken, but that's what was given on the evening news.

So, go for it. Just take lots of water. I drank 1/2 gallon just in the short time on the trail. Here's the website for info on the trails. Happy hiking!!! :D

would love to organize some sort of hike into the mountains. don't plan on going by myself into semi-stange area, never know what'll happen....like getting lost or something. :-)

Sounds like fun JJ- I would like to hike the top 10 peaks in NV but need to train a bit for it- that altitude would kill me right now
That adventure will probably wait until my boys are old enough to go, that way they will push me to stay in shape in my older years.
But I am up for a hike as long as its not in the middle of Summer and above 100
