Jamie,,, I've been looking at this for several weeks now... I have a buddy who lives in Hemet... I'm due to visit him soon,,, but he swears that there's NO 4 WHEELIN' in Big Bear !!!!! I'm going to send him this URL and see what he says then... I would love to visit him, and take him with me on Sat. the 17th, then do the BBQ, and raffel... It really sounds like a fun time... Let you know more later... I know that it's not far away ,,, so I'll work fast..... Phil

There is a lot of wheelin' to be done around Big Bear. My brother goes out there all the time. Have your friend check with one of the local clubs.

Thanks for the imput Bob.... My buddy is not an avid 4 wheeler,, but he has lived in the area for years... He is in fact an aviation nut !! He runs his own business at the FBO at Hemet Airport... He has A&P ratings plus numerous other ratings to do all kinds of repairs... He is also a rated glider pilot... Helicopters are his specialty,,, as he served in the Air Cav. as a gunner in Cobra's... Anyway,,, I will send him this info. and maybe change his mind... I would really like to visit him and go 4 wheelin' at the same time.... Let's see what happens.... Phil

Hey Phil. You can always mention to your friend that Jeep Jamboree does Big Bear every year. I have done some of the trails with my brother. Beautiful area. 8)

I emailed them about accomidations and this is the response I got.

Great Questions! Our camping/staging area for this years event is the Snow Valley Ski Resort Parking lot. We had almost 300 registered vehicles (about 500 with RV's, trucks, trailers, 5th wheels, etc) and had plenty of room left over! If you go to our website www.ie4w.com and halfway down the cover page click on the Forest Fest link (green box). You can then check out lodging in the area. You are, of course, welcome to use the Snow Valley lot with us, all camping is dry, we will provide porta potties for your convenience.

Any further questions, please feel free to call or email me!

I picked the John Bull and Dispan Springs as my trails of choice. I hope to know tomorrow whether or not my vacation is approved.

Jamie,,, sorry, but I won't make this one... My buddy Brian is very busy that weekend doing an aircraft 'annual inspection'... They are a lot of work for him, and he doesn't even want me there to visit !! So I'm trying to go the weekend before, as they have a regional airshow then...

I see that you picked the 2 hardest trails there !!!! Wow !!! I hope that your dif. lockers work !!! I would have to stay on the Gold Mountain Trail to feel safe... Well,, have fun & enjoy.... Phil
