Are you talking about Anniversary Mine area? There are narrows at the end of that - which is mile marker 16 on Northshore road. You can also get to it from an off-shoot trail from Bitter Springs Trail - Are you looking for that trail?

If its the off-shoot I think you're thinking of, Craig, the trail has been closed. One night after a club run through Bitter Springs, me and Amanda were going to go that way. When we got near the big wash, and while in the narrow part of the trail between the tall walls of the wash, there were railroad ties as posts and cable strung across the whole thing. We had to do a 5-point turn around and go back. I did go though Apex once to the Anniversary Mine. It was easy in some parts and a little harder in others...fun all around though.

I had taken the off-shoot trail once and don't remember with who, but haven't been out there in years. I mapped a route from Apex but have not made it out to see if it goes through.

If I remember correctly the trail that broke off Bitter Springs is closed because of the bounderys that were set for a wilderness area out there. There was a study by the BLM & NPS that designated something like 5 wilderness areas out there.
