I'm looking to find a good high spot that's safe to take my little guy up for the 4th of July and see all the city's shows!

Would love to get a little group together. More lights and safety for the trip back down.

Anyone have something planned? :?:

We love going to the dry lake bed south of the Railroad Pass where all the "illegal" varieties of fireworks are allowed to fly.
A grill, lots of meat and side items, and lots of fireworks always makes this a good time. The best part is when all our fireworks are burned up, we can sit back and watch everyone else out there.
We welcome anyone else who'd like to join us. I can post more info later if anyone is interested.

Palo Verde High School in Summerlin. Great view of the entire valley at @3000'. Watched the 4th fireworks from there a few times. Haven't done it since the Red Rock opened but if they are doing a show, they should be easy to see from there too. Good Luck.

that road is a major pucker even in bright sunshine. and i beleave it's actually a private access road for the antenna site up there. i wouldn't want to be coming down and meet a truck going up to work on the antennas. no room to move over and let it by. 8)

Noted. That's why I ask the experts!

Any other hilltops that are easy ups/downs?

Maybe the HS in Summerlin is the best bet?

i live on the southeast side of town and for me i just run out by the water treatment plant on hollywood. the parking for the wetlands trailhead is there and while it's not real close or elevated i can see from downtown to the south end of the strip. there is a spot off of cottonwood valley road where you can see from the south all the way to northtown but again it's not close. more and more spots on the westside are disappearing as construction continues in the valley. 8)

I've had some good views of city fireworks from along the power pole road leading to Sloan Canyon, but with all the development out there I don't know what is still accessable.

I used to go in the area Brad mentioned. The best bet is to go out there in the daytime to familiarize yourself with the area.

Has anyone heard if there are going to be fireworks from the strip? There is still a possibility that I might do a run to our normal fireworks watching perch.
