What kind of Cherokee? ZJ, WJ, etc? Might want to limit yourself to the 2" variety for cost and ease of installation though. Most 2" require no x-fer case drops or other mods. 3" lifts usually do.

Has anyone ever participated or put on a lift onto a Jeep Cherokee? Just looking at doing a fairly basic 3 in lift with maybe a transfer case drop. I know I'll probably need a few bottles of PB blaster and some patience. Greg |

Greg,, I've been places & done things with my XJ that I thought to be impossible !! And that's with only a 2" lift and 30" tires !! Now I have the 31" mud terrains, and just slight rubbing on extreme terrain... The 3" lift would be perfect... As for the transfer case drop,, I would say that it wouldn't hurt a bit,, just to be safe... Phil |

I wouldn't think you would need at TC drop. I had 5" of lift on my zj without one and never had any vibes, but maybe a XJ is different. I know a few in the club have them on there TJ's but they are a shorter wb. The lift install is strait forward depending on whats included - what lift are you looking at so that we know what your changing out? |

My XJ has about 5" in front and approx. 6" in the rear now. I have no tc drop and no vibes I'm running 33's with no rubbing. I did do a lot of trimming though before I put the last 2 to 3 " on. On 31's with a 3" lift I had only minimal rubbing at full stuff. The lift should be relativly easy to do, I don"t know which lift your gonna get but all of them are pretty straight forward like Craig said. If you have a desert raised jeep you probably won't even need PB Blaster.

Unfortunately I have a rust belt Cherokee from Ohio. It has cancer underneath like no would believe. Soooo much rust. I never go under there without safety glasses. Greg |

Thinking about runnin a budget boost for a while. That would let me accomodate a little larger tires without a lot of cash outlay right. now. I am looking to run the 06 rubicon wheels with the stock rubicon tires. They are 30.5x9.5x16. |

Anyone ever installed add a leafs before. I am thinking of doing a budget boost for now. Suppose to gain 1.75 in off it. It entails a aal in the rear and a puck in the front. I will need to borrow some garage space to do it. I have a garage, but no jacks or jack stands. Otherwise I'll run over to Nellis and do it at the garage on base. I still have to wait on the parts to come in though. Greg |

Earlier Cherokees have an easier time fitting larger tires than the 97+ newer body style models. Much of the problems are caused by extra plastic moldings wrapping the bumpers. How willing are you to cut up your fender wells? And finally, the back spacing on the Moab wheels is totally wrong. The Cherokee wants 4.5" of backspacing to clear suspension components. Moab wheels are 5.25" and might require a wheel spacer to shove the wheels out just enough. |
