I also have a body lift and motor mount lift I need for the Jeep before I can offroad it.....but maybe that's another work party entirely.

I will also have gears I wanna do as well, but I need to see how the Jeep drives with the 4.10s and the new 33s on that 8.8 before purchasing a ring and pinion set for the front and/or back.

8.8 it's a much beefier rear axle out of a Ford Exploder with disc brakes, 4.10 gears and is regarded as a significant upgrade for the Dana 35 I have now.

JJ are you guys doing this from scratch......in one day? I'd love to see this since this is an upgrade I've been thinking about,

maybe it'll take a couple, all day anyway. I've never done it (but I'm not much of a mechanic anyway), neither has Ed.
I'm not exactly sure what's involved, but there is welding to do to make the axle fit the TJ.

I've been looking for Dana 44s but this axle was much cheaper to do, and just as strong, if not stronger than a Dana 44.

and then I'll drive with the 4.10s for awhile and see if it's low enough gearing to live with the 33s.....I have to re-gear the front anyway after this.

JJ I have 4.11 gears with 33' tires. 4.11 and 4.10 are almost the same. This combo works out to be the same gear to tire ratio as stock tires and stock gears.

I figured, and I was quite happy with the Jeep stock. and if I only re-do the front, I can add the lockers I want.

Now that I have the 33s on it, it really isn't driving too bad at all with the stock 3.73s.

5th loses its gumption, but from a dead start, it's not as much as a shock to the system as going from 30s to 32s was. I thought that with a wider, heavier wheel it might regrettable, but it's not.

JJ... how can you run 4:10 gears in the rear,,, and 3:73's in the front ?? Won't that mess up the transfer case ?? I thought they had to match !! Phil

Your right Phil. They do need to match. But what JJ is talking about is trying to find out if the new diff with 4.10's will work to his satisfaction running 33's. If it works out, then he will have to regear only the front. As long as JJ DOES NOT put the t-case in 4x, he will be fine. Unfortunately, that means no dirt for him untl he regears the front or F/R if he needs to go to 4.56.

I hope that cleared it up for you. :?

do both front and back at the same time!!!

4:10 + 33" tires is perfect that is what was on my Rubi for 3.5 yrs
once i went to 35" tires the Rubi was out of range...

Yay, another work party! :D

Right now the only things I have to do will be rearranging my lighting options....the stock fog lamps moved to the rear bumper for backup lighting, new fog/driving lights on the front bumper and on the windshield mount brackets. This assumes that I still have it to do by the 5th, if it's already set up, then I can be a supervisor  / additional wrencher.

Replaced all my factory speakers last night with an Infinity set-up...they sound great! 8)
