Post subject:  Hello all!

My name is Phil, have lived here in Henderson for about 3 years now.

Recently bought my 4X4 Chevy. I have off roading experience, mostly around the Anza-Borrego and around the Landers California area. Haven't been off road here yet though. Have had many 4X4's in the past.

I am looking to start exploring around the area, was thinking of going over Wheeler Pass within the next couple days.

Thank you for allowing me to sign up! My rig:

Thank you! It's a retired USGS truck. I painted it myself a few months ago, from 20 feet away it looks pretty good. lol.

Thanks! According to the rules, I'm going to have to come up with some tow hooks, it doesn't have any at the moment. But I'm working on it. It basically came with no options, as it's a gov't truck. Even has the SM465 manual transmission, which I find to be pretty cool actually.

Don't worry about coming up with everything right away. Front tow hooks and a rear towbar should do it for a rig like yours. Should be some kind of old factory, aftermarket or junkyard hooks you can find.

You mentioned going over Wheeler in the next couple days. Granted I don't live in Vegas anymore but I do know Wheeler and I know there's been a little weather there recently and Wheeler may be one you want some other rigs with you on this time of year. The locals can give you a better estimation of the trails current condition. Top of the pass does see snow.

Welcome aboard!!!!

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I have seen some videos that feature snow on the trail. Maybe I'll wait a bit. There are some other trails around here that don't have the elevation.

I'll scrounge around for tow hooks. I'm debating just going all-in on a winch mount front bumper and an ENGO winch.

I seemed to have fixed the lack of tow hook issue, at least in the front.
