I'm Gene and we moved here from Tennessee in 2011 to be closer to family. My wife, April, and I were on the Titus Canyon drive in May and felt this was the club to join after 15 vehicles stopped to check on us when our '98 Cherokee overheated on the way out of Death Valley. I want to give a shout-out to Beth and the other four good samaritans (you know who you are) who stayed with us to Rhyolite. We made it back to Vegas without further excitement.

I've been a car-boy for 40+ years so once we got settled I bought the XJ as a hobby/toy to explore with. It's still a 'work in progress' but I've refurbished the basics, relocated the air filter, installed a 3" lift and 31" tires and rebuilt the cooling system (new 3-row core radiator, water pump, thermostat, hoses, and fan clutch). As long as nothing else fails I plan to start adding recovery points and CB and tow straps and shovel and all the other 'stuff' that goes into this hobby. In the meantime I'm looking forward to meeting more of you and seeing a lot more of Nevada backroads.

Welcome to our Message Board. Glad that you made it home without any further problems. Daylight Pass can be a nightmare in the heat. We weren't going to leave you stranded by yourself.

Hope to see you on the trail again soon.

Glad to hear you made it home safely and very glad you decided to join the club!

If you're going to the Ely camping excursion, I'll be staying at the lake myself. I have a ground tent if you want to use it.
