New guy checking in.
I have been in town a few years and I have been considering a jeep for a project to work on with my family as health and time allow.
My wife and I recently stumbled upon a 1990 2.5I YJ that runs well with 80,000 miles and it runs like a champ, easily one of the best hobbies I have thrown money at
I registered here to hopefully pick up advice and wisdom occasionally along the path of my project and get to know your club a bit.
I will likely keep it pretty well stock and do trail runs once it is in good enough condition to be reliable in the wilderness so hopefully I will be out on the trail soon.
cheers folks

Glad to have you here. I'm better at trails than at tech stuff (OK so I'm WORTHLESS with tech stuff), but there are plenty of mechanic type gear heads on the site. Hope you get your rig together and meet us out on the trail!

welcome to the board. you've come to the right place as the Backroaders was started as a teaching club for newbies. fire away with the questions and we'll be more then happy to supply answers, even if they're the wrong ones.

Thanks
The pitman arm during the steering gear box swap made a few more of my hairs fall out and the wiring will be a headache but the rest has been pretty straight forward and in line with the two manuals I bought for it, so far so good.
Now on to some aftermarket goodies. I can already hear murphy's hands rubbing together in anticipation of modifications.

here's your first pointer. anything that says "direct bolt on-no mods required" won't be. :D

If it makes you feel better, 95% of the wires in my Scout are green. Not different shades either, just green.

Thanks for the welcomes.
Mostly green wiring sounds like a nightmare on your scout GaryB.
I took my YJ out on the end of Horizon ridge in Henderson headed towards Boulder City/Searchlight and had a great time in the dirt. I just had to be careful to stay on the main road and approved trails as most other sections were closed to motorized vehicles sadly.
I know the 4 wheel drive works well though. Now a few more details, time and parts and my heep will be ready.
