I want to hike to a tree I found in 2006, I don't know if I can remember which ravine to take to the tree, but I'd rather not head out alone on a 50 mile trek in june, It's an easy 2wd trail, just a little loose at the trail head but no worries. I'll be at the corn creek turn off at 8:30 roll at 9:00 CB # 4, hope to see you there. Saturday june 6th Scottie.

I'm heading up to cabin springs rd but the only cabin I've heard of is at hidden forrest rd, I haven't hiked up there yet. Scottie.

I'm not as young as I used to be, after a three hour hike up, and back down a ravine thats little more than a dry waterfall, an elevation change of 1000 ft. my right knee is completley worn out. I did however make it to the saddle.Image Image Image Image Image can anyone identify this skeleton? I think it's a sheep, but I have no idea. Image

Is that your tree you were looking for in the pics?

And yes the spine is a big horn. The short "ribs" on the topside lead to the back of their neck.

Thanx for the skeleton diagnosis, I'm no biology guy but the large protrusions off of the vertebrae made me think reinforcement. As for the tree, no, I've been back twice now and I think it camps in the second ravine to the south, by the way it is still alive with four foot boulders caught up in it's roots, though I must admit part of it's allure was my lack of Knowledge and the possibility that it may be a bristle cone pine, now having gone all the way to the saddle armed with wikipedia, I doubt there is any possibility of that, but how could a picture of a tree holding back four foot boulders be not worth while, but five days later my knee is still not the same, next time I'll wear my brace, I thought I was back to 100%, I guess I was wrong. Scottie

The only Bristle Cone's I know around here are on Mt. Charleston. Even then they're in small bunches. There's a handful on the trail to Mummy Springs on Mummy Mtn. as well. It's about a 3 mile up hill hike or so to those IIRC.
