I found an article that implies the woman who watches over the Belmont courthouse might give a tour if you can get a hold of her. Her name is Paula Kniefel. Now how you find her is as good a guess as any. I suspect the saloon next to the B&B, or the B&B itself might be good places to inquire. When I was there, they were the only two open business's.

I’m back home from our Central Nevada exploring trip. Looking forward to exploring more in the North and East someday. 8)

I crossed the Paradise, Shoshone, Toiyabe, Toquima, Monitor and Hot creek range(s). The nights we camped we stayed on top of the ranges. There was very little snow along the roads. The main roads are basic county roads for Nevada. Saw Big Horn, Prong horn, white trail, Red tail and elk, the Nevada high country is spectacular. I got a kick out of going to the Faultless nuclear explosion site

I never got a chance to see what the official ‘fire danger rating’ was, but I didn’t like the looks of the forest, so I didn’t have any campfires.

I’d like to add the Motel in Manhattan Nv is very nice. We did not see one person in Belmont and everything was closed, it’s still worth visiting. Gabbs is interesting, anyone here live in Gabbs?

Thanks GB and J&C for your input.

You saw white tail? You went a lot farther than Austin :P They're actually Mule Deer, or affectionately, Muley's. A lot of us who hunt never could understand why they used a white tail as the model for deer warning signs around here though.

BTW, did you go by Moore's Station by chance? Someone is asking over on the ghost town site I admin on and I thought you might have been by there.

Yeap, I mainly used the name for the flow with the other names. I don’t let facts interfere with my stories. :) I am happy to see someone read it, and had a comment.

Yes we went to Moore’s Station. The site is private property and is posted, fenced, gated, and locked, but easy to see and photo the old buildings from the road. It’s well maintained and appeared to be occupied. I didn’t go to any of the other stage stop sites in that area, from here we headed south toward Tybo. Any other Qs?

Would you say Moore's was worth a trip if in the area?

BTW, I'm coming back through Austin tomorrow, and we're toying with hitting up Diana's Punch Bowl and the Geographical Center.

YES. Plus there is lots to see in the area.

Did you make it out to Diana's Punch Bowl?

No :x A rock in High Rock Canyon decided to reach out and touch me, so I was delayed getting a tire in to replace it as they had to order it. And I thought Vegas sucked for having items on hand, Reno and Carson are just as bad.

So we just came back via asphalt to play it safe as we ended up a day behind. Also, Central to Northern Nevada has been getting hammered the last few weeks by thunderstorms and everything is water logged or so rain beaten you can't stand to drive on it for the pot holes. I haven't seen that much rain myself for a long time. 6 days of driving 10 -12 hours was enough anyway. My butt hurts :?

Even though the trip that prompted this thread is over, I have a couple of my own pages that you might find enjoyable reading.
