This will be the 3rd year for this little camp out-4 wheeling trip.
Most of us will head up, wed night or Thurs. after dinner.
Camp fire and cocktail hours dark till, too cold to sit by the fire.
Trails leave in the morning around 8:30-ish
We've ran the trails enough so you can find your way, without a guide.
A few easy trails and dirt roads.
Lot's of 3 to 4+ runs.
Anyone welcome to partisapate,
TotalKarnage and Vegas Valley 4 Wheelers will be attending.
CB Ch.#4
I-93 past Alamo just before Ash Springs Look for RV's up to the East of River Ranch Road.

Well the letter I'm referencing too was one about what the status was. It was from the PR guy or what ever his title is that was at the open house meeting in Alamo.

D-rail did get a cd from BLM. You might want to e-mail or call him.

Yes, I got the CD. That area is out of the closure area. The road to the runway & the runway itself is at the very
edge of tortis area so please watch for them and note: (all roads if not posted are "25mph only" anywhere in northern
Nevada) Sheep and Muel deer are speculated to be in the area (none confirmed) . Drive slow, look out for nature, be respectfull of the petrogliphs, Pack out more than packed in (garbage) "Do, what we all ways do"
As the BLM gets more funding, larger areas of the existing trails in northern Nevada will be obtained.
Maps will be on BLMs web site first, as they get funding a area map station will be installed.
Trails will be marked, as use of Area52 growes, pit toilets and camp ground will be next.
Unless the area gets trashed due to nuckle heads or Democrate greenies put the kiebosh on it.
This is the very abridged version as I interperted it...

So then it's sort of a go then huh? The way you describe it is basically the same exact way they are handling Chief Mtn. OHV and the rest of the Silver State Trail system. Chief Mtn. finally has maps, signed trails, pit toilets, etc but it's exact location is almost secretive. They do have plans to put up a sign on US93 for the trail head, but are having issues getting clearance from NDOT.

I'll try to find the letter I got. It was pretty vague, just basically said it was still in consideration. Now that I think about it, the guy who sent the letter may be same guy we deal with at the Caliente BLM and the LCTC. If it is, he seems a pretty good guy.

Anyway, I know the Lincoln County Trails Committee has helped the BLM with some funding and help with Chief Mtn. Maybe you guys could work something out with them in that regards, though I'm sure you've offered.

Area 52 is just an area the some of the local hardcore wheelers like to camp and wheel at. It is east of Hwy 93 between Alamo and Ash Springs. I believe this area was also used as an emergency landing strip for the X-15 plane (I may be wrong about the type of plane).

Actually, it's the old Alamo municipal airfield. The ELS you are referring to (it was X-15) is in the Delamar Dry Lake farther east.

BTW, I found the letter I was referencing too early in this post. But from what I have been told recently by the Caliente BLM, the planned OHV area is basically on the back burner till funding is secured, ie the economy picks up.
