I'm thinking about taking a neighbor down here with his kids to check out the volcano fields and the lava tube in Mojave NP near Baker, CA. It depends on if he can go but if there are enough others wanting to go I'll go either way. Keep in mind park rules only allow 7 vehicles in a group so if there are more we can "split up" a bit. most of it can be run by stocks except for the back trail to the lava tube which can be kind of rough. I haven't been to the area in a couple years so I don't know what the trails are like now. It takes about 2 hours to get down there from the north side of Vegas so I figure we can meet at State line Whiskey Pete's near the truck parking at around 8am then go from there(it's only an hour from here). THIS IS NOT DEFINATE YET SO PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON THIS THREAD FOR UPDATES. By all means if you wish to go post up so I have an idea how many want to go.

come on Gary, you ought to know, as a trucker, that I have the very unique ability to be in 2 places at the same time. At least my dispatcher thinks I do. Thanks for pointing that out. This run is on SAT 12/22 and the other one is on SUN 12/23

as of now this trip is a go. We'll meet at 0800 at Whiskey Pete's at stateline then hit the road at 0830. I need to be back in town by 6pm so we'll probably leave the Mojave area around 3-4. It'll be a short poke around trip with no real hard wheelin.

Awesome time today, Steve. Thanks for posting it up. We're gonna have to make it back out there some day and explore some of the areas we saw that were worth taking a better look at.

I'll have some pictures sometime this weekend.

I second that. Maybe when it's a bit warmer or maybe next week. Who knows. I'm processing pix now and also should have them up by Mon eve.

Thanks Phil. The multi exposure is an ancient Chinese secret and if I told ya I'd have to kill ya. :P It's actually Joe's evil twin brother who really lives in the cave. He's the reason we went down there in the first place.
If you make it Sat I'll tell ya. Hope to see you there.
