Looking for a nice day run for our first time, any suggestions?
I am looking at Bitter Springs and would that be good for a first timer?

Thanks Rick

Bitter Springs, Mormon Well, and Logandale are excellent first timer areas with Logandale being the most challenging and Mormon being the longest drive.

bitter springs is a good trip any time. it rates no more then an easy 1.5 and is stock friendly. unless you run it at 40+ mph it is a good 6 to 8 hour day in the dirt depending on the stops. for someone new to the trail just watch for the brown carsonite trail markers and you should be good to go. just make sure you have a good spare and the tools to change a flat if needed because there are some sharp rocks out there. 8)

There happens to be a run that is going on in the mountains between here and Pahrump this Saturday. The plan is to do the Lovell Canyon road loop (Lovell Cyn. to Trout Canyon and then back out to Blue Diamond), which goes through some lovely forest terrain with ponderosas and pinions- quite a treat for those of us who miss seeing more plant life since moving to the desert. ;)

If we're fortunate to have someone who knows Wheeler Pass with us, we will be doing Wheeler Pass from Pahrump to the 95 north of Vegas.

I will not be making it, but I already know that there are two Jeeps coming up that way- I've been talking with their drivers this morning and cross-posting this to help make it a reality.

The URL for info and RSVPs is http://jeep.meetup.com/225/calendar/6907227/

Regretfully, I will not be able to make this run, but I hope to catch you sometime on a future adventure.
