I'm just going to throw this out there to see if anyone is interested or not. I was considering breaking away from the club run somewhere south of Red Bluff Spring when I believe we will be turning east toward Devil's Throat, and head toward the lake's Overton Arm on a trail and camp out there on the shore by the Narrows.

I can take my two kayaks to play on the water Sunday morning and pack up and head back home around noon or so. I've never been there so I really don't know what to expect. We'll take a trail that heads NE back up to the main road to Gold Butte.

Post here or send me a PM if interested. I just figure since I'm there, it would be a nice place to camp out and do some wheelin', too.

Joe I would join ya but I am a sissy and it's just too hot for me to camp - are you sure there is still water there? Have you seen how low the water is in that section of the lake  You might be suprised to find just dried up mud.
Maybe you should camp at the top of the mountain there -it would be much cooler - I would be interested if it was cooler and camp on Friday night instead of Sat. night.

I wanted to camp out at Whitney Pocket on Friday night, but if you have any suggestions and we're easily able to get to the run on Saturday morning, I'd be open for suggestions. Camp somewhere closer to Mesquite? Since I don't know the area that well, I wouldn't know where to go to get out of the heat. If not, I'll just drive up Saturday morning and drive home after the run.

You may be right on the water level up there. Just thinking back how old St. Thomas was exposed and I think that is south of where I was thinking. :D Never mind!!! I think I need to be home for Sunday anyway.

So, Friday night camp out after I get off work? That is doable!!!!

No problem Craig. It looks like I'll be heading up for the club run on Saturday morning anyway. Saturday night camping still might be a go. I think Al may be interested. There will be a next time so I'll hope to catch you then.

Al, Matt, and I will be doing a little explortation up to Virgin Peak Saturday after the run. We will be camping somewhere up there in the higher elevations around 6,000 feet, too. This looks like an awesome area to explore and camp when I viewed it on Google Earth. I can't wait!!! :D
